Status Update #1:   I have made great progress!  Here are some of the features that are already implemented are:

  • Discussion Forums
  • Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
  • a Document Repository (for storing documents online like the CC&R's and ByLaws)
  • an Event Calendar with a list of Upcoming Events
  • Classified and Want Ads
  • a Job Board
  • User Polls

Also please note that each of the above website features is able to be presented in multiple languages!!!  (Translators are needed!!!  We don't want any one person to translate the whole site.  Ideally, we'd like to have a few people for each language to translate bits and pieces, ie. just one item at a time, on your own time!  Thanks!)  Currently, the following languages are enabled:

  • English
  • Chinese: Simplified
  • Chinese: Traditional
  • Korean
  • Spanish
  • Tagalog
  • ???:  Please let me know of any other desired languages...

Status Update #2:   As I mentioned in the August HOA meeting, my (paid work) workload has increased greatly so I haven't been able to spend any time on the website for now almost 2 months.  All of the features mentioned above are completed and working.  Over the long term, there are a couple of features that I'd really like to have on the system, namely the Issue Tracking System(to help automate the tracking, completion and verifying of various tasks around the complex).   I feel this is a critical piece but since I don't have time right now, I've decided to roll out the system as is. (I still believe that we have a feature-packed site that is head-and-shoulders above most of what I've seen out there and these features will, hopefully, greatly reduce the workload of our (volunteer!) Board.)  I've started adding users to the system to get some feedback before the general rollout.  As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to call me at the number listed above.
